New furby release

[edit]

hello! A new furby was released June 22 2023, I'd just I'd let someone know as it's not on the wiki yet (I understand it's very new) thanks! 88.105.147.56 (talk) 13:16, 30 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It could be helpful to include a reference for the 2023 release.
The official press release can be found at:

Security concerns

[edit]

It seems unlikely that the NSA would allow an unchecked Furby into secure premises even now. Indeed I doubt they'd permit any electronic devices without good provenance.

I also think the "NSA thought it had AI" trope is a probably a little over the top.

I think it's worth checking the following sources:

  1. the NSA documents - we link to 404, who say there is a copy on Internet Archive which would be a better ref.
  2. The recent BBC (3 part?) enter-mentry on the subject.

All the best: Rich Farmbrough 12:29, 8 October 2024 (UTC).[reply]
