User talk:BE~enwiki
Hi Bernhard.
First see Wikipedia:Welcome, newcomers, if you haven't already.
OpenFacts at http://openfacts.berlios.de is the open source knowledge database provided by BerliOS. [1] is probably the best place for your article. There it can potentially be seen by those interested in opensource software, etc.
Wikipedia on the other hand is an encyclopedia, and the requirement for an article is that is is encyclopedic see Wikipedia:What's in, what's out and Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not, and I have to wonder whether your article is worthy of a page in the encyclopedia. That's why I've listed it on Articles for deletion - it's nothing personal or anything. The people there will read the page and comment on it, and following the deletion policy decide to keep or delete the page as appropriate, over a period of five days. The best way you can help us is by indicating anyway that you feel that your program is helpful. There may be lesser ways you can mention it, for example by placing it as an external link in the cryptography article that may be more acceptable. By your placing of it in the encyclopedia there is a possible conflict of interest, and the best way to resolve that is to run it through vfd.
Hope that helps. Happy editing.

Welcome
[edit]Hello there! I've had a look at the CrypTool web page, and it seems to be a great bit of software, though I agree with Dunc Harris that it's more appropriate for OpenFacts, rather than Wikipedia. You seem to be interested in educating people about Cryptography — I thought I'd invite you to take part in Wikipedia:WikiProject Cryptography, I don't know if you'd be interested. (There's also a de:Wikipedia:WikiProjekt_Kryptologie for German language articles). Maybe we could adapt some of your tutorials from CrypTool's online help, or some such? — Matt 15:31, 5 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called BE. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name BE~enwiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name. If you think you might own all of the accounts with this name and this message is in error, please visit Special:MergeAccount to check and attach all of your accounts to prevent them from being renamed.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
