[edit]As far as I know the New York Dolls got their name from a shop called 'the hospital for new york dolls', not this movie...?
- It was either the Doll Hospital, The original Valley... movie, or the pills that they were addicted to in the original movie. Those pills were known as reds, DOLLS, and downers.JBDay 22:35, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
How to categorize the film?
[edit]The introductory paragraph calls BVD an American musical comedy, but I'm not sure this is quite accurate. Roger Ebert says Russ Meyer wanted a comedy/musical/horror/melodrama/camp script. So I'm wondering if the way BVD is described in the article about the novel Valley of the Dolls — "a satirical pastiche" — would better describe the film. Or should it be called a comedy/musical/horror/melodrama/camp extravaganza? Anyone? Kinkyturnip (talk) 18:05, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
- How about, a film that was made so as to be virtually unclassifiable? Classifications are naturally possible, but by grotesquely combining such very different movie genres, the result is such a ridiculous chimaera as to both satirise and ridicule the commercial movie-making industry -- Hollywood itself.

Marcia McBroom
[edit]...is on Wikipedia:List of encyclopedia topics (44) so she needs one of:
- An article
- A redirect to here if it's her only film
- or to be placed on the "No article needed" section at Wikipedia:List of encyclopedia topics (44).

- Please tell me that you aren't going around adding redlinks on the basis of that list of thousands and thousands of potential subjects without actually evaluating the subject?
In any case, she's non-notable, and I've moved her. Beyond My Ken (talk) 16:05, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
- Err... You are familiar with the "User Contributions" feature aren't you? You can see for yourself that I'm not. It's also a requirement to be civil round here, so all you needed to say was that you consider her non notable and that you've put her into the "no article needed" and that would be that. And people wonder why I got sick of this place?!
- Wikipedia:List_of_encyclopedia_topics: "The following is a list of encyclopedia topics that do not appear to have articles in Wikipedia, but really should for maximum coverage. The intent is to create a sensible article with the given link - many being redirects - and then to remove it from these pages. Thus each page of the list should get steadily shorter. There are certain links which may be better not having pages created for them. An explanation for this should be noted next to the link and it moved to the bottom of the page." It's quite reasonable for me to assume that a name on that list should have an article, and quite reasonable for you to respond by moving the name off the main list. Over and out. --kingboyk (talk) 14:15, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
- A name on the list simply means that some editor at some time - perhaps a fan of McBroom - thought she should have an article. It should not be taken to be a list of all the unlinked names on Wikipedia that should be redlinked. Beyond My Ken (talk) 19:50, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Regarding this edit, where does Wikipedia policy say that it is acceptable for "IPC items" to be "sourced by the media item they refer to"? Perhaps Beyond My Ken has forgotten that Wikipedia is not meant to be used as a source? I added the citation needed tags as an alternative to removing that information altogether, but if BMK is going to reject the tags, then perhaps it should be simply removed.
