[edit]Hayes and Yeading have now merged clubs to become Hayes and Yeading FC. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.29.133.224 (talk) 14:53, 20 May 2007
I have an alternative proposal for this page. As it seems to be unfairly geared to The Football League, I think we should have an overhaul to something like this: Talk:List of English football teams/alternative proposal.
Any objections?

Ah, what the hell does it matter? This page was originally created to have Premiership, Div 1, 2, 3, Conference. So I'm incorporating my edit. Enjoy.

Just out of interest, what was the confusion concerning Airbus UK about? As far as I know, it's the works team of the Airbus factory at Broughton, near Chester i.e. it's physically located in Wales anyway, so it's quite proper that it should compete in the Welsh leagues. -- Arwel 23:15, 17 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- Because the given address of the Airbus factory is Cheshire (though now I've looked at a map I can see that it's a little into Wales) and the team did used to play in an English league. Things get complicated when cities cross over borders (but these footballing matters have always been complicated in the UK because of the four-nation makeup). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 62.64.232.181 (talk • contribs) 21:29, 20 June 2004 (UTC).
- Really? I'd be surprised if anywhere actually says Cheshire -- the places I've looked online say "Broughton, Chester CH4 0DR" or "Broughton, Flintshire CH4 0DR". Of course the Chester postcode and telephone dialling code extend a fair distance over the border. Footballwise, of course, Chester F.C. should only half be in this list, since their stadium physically straddles the border! -- Arwel 22:50, 20 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- Sorry, meant to type Chester. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.225.7.69 (talk • contribs) 14:20, 21 June 2004 (UTC).
- Of course there will soon be an English club competing in the Welsh league again as TNS are moving to Oswestry (whose own club, Oswestry Town, they merged with) for the 2005-2006 season.
- By the way, are there any other English clubs that compete in either the Scottish or Welsh leagues and therefore need to be listed here? And are all the Welsh clubs competing in England all listed (six are included at the moment)? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 62.64.232.181 (talk • contribs) 21:42, 20 June 2004 (UTC).
- I read somewhere that European football can sometimes be more of a curse than a blessing for League of Wales teams, depending on who they're drawn against. If they get drawn against some Eastern European team that no-one's heard of (and because it's the first qualifying round, they're probably not even that bigger club in their own country) it costs them a fortune to get over there and interest is virtually non-existant, so it ends up costing them more money than they make out of it (assuming they go out straight away, which, let's face it, is almost every time).
- Of course, sometimes it does work out. TNS getting Manchester City is the best example. A massive club (possibly the biggest in the whole of Europe in that round - they got in through fair play and therefore have to start right at the beginning, if I recall correctly) and next-to-no travelling. I bet they made a fortune (even though they got stuffed). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.225.7.69 (talk • contribs) 14:32, 21 June 2004 (UTC).
Does this page serve any useful purpose?
[edit]It's a) Incomplete and b) Out-of-date. Will anyone attend to both of these points, or should this page be headed for Wikipedia:Articles for deletion? - fchd 07:46, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
St. Albans are not in Conf. National this year, what are you people watching? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.165.41.25 (talk) 15:24, 16 November 2006
Completed!
[edit]I have filled up the missing levels of some of the lower non-league clubs for easier reference. --Siva1979Talk to me 12:27, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
Rename
[edit]This article needs to be either renamed or reformed. Welsh clubs are included, therefore I suggest a renaming to List of football clubs in England leagues. Otherwise, Welsh teams should be removed. I'm aware of the explanation in the first paragraph, but the title of this article is misleading and suggests Welsh teams are geographically located in England. Welshleprechaun 13:41, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
- Or better still merge all the articles together into List of football clubs in the United Kingdom. Failing that a little overlap in each article is perfectly fine unless you are of a certain extreme political persuasion. Owain (talk) 09:07, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
Lack of teams from 11th level and below
[edit]Is there a reason why the list of teams only covers those from the 1st to the 10th level in the league? Even if the teams in the lower leagues (11th to 20th level) are a part of regional feeder leagues, if they have the potential to be promoted to the 10th league or higher shouldn't they be listed in the article? Blahney (talk) 03:35, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
Location
[edit]It would be useful if, with each entry, the location of the team (eg. town/city) was specified. 2001:1970:5363:7800:E8E7:3E11:138B:659D (talk) 19:58, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
