[edit]When visiting the belfry at St. Mary's Parish Church at Greasley, Notts a few years ago I noticed that a William Henry Johnson V.C. took in an interesting bellringing performance. As I am a very active bellringer I am most interested to konow more about this fine gentleman as I believe that he is the only bellringer to have received the ultimate award for bravery. More information about his background etc would be appreciated. rgds

Centenary
[edit]I've just added a couple of new external links to mark the centenary of Johnson's VC action. As I've done most of the work on these two external sources I don't feel it would be appropriate to incorporate the material myself. NB this Wikipedia article is included as "External Evidence" on the Lives profile, but is not actually used to source anything. I've found quite a few contemporary news reports etc that help detail.
