Year and place of birth
[edit]Does somebody know Valtaoja's year of birth? --Chino 16:42, 9 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- I don't, but Kotona Maailmankaikkeudessa, in the beginning of chapter 2: Seksiä keittiössä ja makkarissa he tell he went to study in Turku university listening music he bought with his "ylioppilasrahoilla" in autumn of 1969. So propably 1950 is a good quess. --The Merciful 13:57, 20 July 2005 (UTC)
Valtaoja was not born in Sodankylä, he was born in Kemi. I'll remove the false sentence about him being born in Sodankylä. He used to live in Sodankylä at one part of his youth, but I won't add this to the article, since I don't remember the exact years. Kauffman's book
[edit]By the way, it's an interesting coincidence that Valtaoja's Finnish smash hit book 'Kotona maailmankaikkeudessa' translates directly as 'At home in the universe', which again is the title of a famous book by Kauffman. And the books in a way also share a subject. However, Valtaoja's book is in no way a translation or version of Kauffman's book, but rather an original work by Valtaoja alone. Matti Nuortio, Oulu, Finland 20:37, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- I now checked the reference and source material list Valtaoja has enclosed in his book. Interestingly, Kauffman's book is not mentioned. So we might conclude that it has been a complete coincidence: Valtaoja might not have been even aware about the existence of Kauffman's book. Matti Nuortio, Oulu, Finland 15:33, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Religion
[edit]What is the source for professor's religion? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.232.103.119 (talk • contribs)
- In his book Valtaoja writes he doesn't believe in god, but he is not atheist. More like agnostic. Peltimikko (talk) 03:43, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
