Deletion

[edit]

CityPulse was proposed for deletion. This page is an archive of the discussion about the proposed deletion. This page is no longer live. Further comments should be made on the article's talk page rather than here so that this page is preserved as an historic record. The result of the debate was KEEP

Non-notable news show. Exabyte (talk) 06:05, Oct 9, 2004 (UTC)

  • Delete. Note that the anon author's only other contribution is CFTO (up for speedy) with the content of "CFTO Sucks, CityPulse RULES. AMEN, BROTHER!" Looks like an advert, followed by a slam on a rival. This could qualify for speedy delete as vandalism. SWAdair | Talk 06:13, 9 Oct 2004 (UTC)
    • True, but we're voting on the article, not the newbie/vandal. • Benc • 06:16, 9 Oct 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep; thanks to Juntung for the article improvement. Delete, unless someone is willing to unsubstub and prove its notability. Might be notable: 5,000+ Google hits [1]; it's probably big in Toronto. • Benc • 06:16, 9 Oct 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep and list on cleanup, it's Citytv's main news show. - SimonP 15:35, Oct 9, 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep (?). I added the comment that it's the first major TV news show to have no news desk. I can't remember exactly the source (I need to look it up, it's in a book) but I think the show has been quite innovative. I think it also pioneered the open newsroom but I need to check on that one. It also spawned a local TV station. --JuntungWu 17:30, 9 Oct 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete: It's a non-unique title of a show whose name is used for newspapers, TV shows, etc. Merge and redirect to whatever TV service is the master topic -- Citytv, I gather. The content here is tiny and could easily be incorporated in its natural parent. Geogre 00:41, 10 Oct 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep Well known, long-running show that has won a number of awards. I'm not sure where you got the idea that the name is not unique? The only other one I could find was in Lansing, and it was City Pulse, not CityPulse. The Steve 10:52, Oct 12, 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep, the show has been on the air for over 25 years in Canada's largest television market (Toronto) and is considered very innovative by North American local news types and has been widely copied. AndyL 10:41, 12 Oct 2004 (UTC)
  • weak Keep: with the understanding that there's going to be a disambiguation issue, as at least two newspapers I know of use the name "CityPulse" to refer to various sections of the paper. --Feedle 21:04, 13 Oct 2004 (UTC)
I'm really hoping that people don't start writing seperate articles about the different sections of their local newspaper. The Steve 01:27, Oct 14, 2004 (UTC)

This page is now preserved as an archive of the debate and, like other '/delete' pages is no longer 'live'. Subsequent comments on the issue, the deletion or on the decision-making process should be placed on the relevant 'live' pages. Please do not edit this page.

CityNews at Noon

[edit]

Isn't there still a CityNews at Noon in Edmonton and Calgary? --PsychoJason 04:58, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, there is. -- Zanimum 19:42, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

CP24 Roles

[edit]

Should CP24 roles be removed from the CityNews staff listing now that the channels fall under separate ownership and will soon split? --99.238.177.201 (talk) 04:44, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stylization

[edit]

CityTV is free to stylize the titles of its programs however it wants, but Wikipedia uses standard formatting, so the whole program name is italicized as CityNews, not CityNews, or some other corporate frippery. Ground Zero | t 19:55, 16 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
