No. I wrote the original version of this article from scratch. I did base it on an article I wrote for Ireland's Own magazine, but I only sold the first publication rights to the magazine. I retained the copywright and so I was entitled to adapt the article for Wikipedia - I think it still needs some work, though. Eroica (talk) 12:43, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I Googled part of the article and it seems to appear on many other sites. However, these seem to be mirrors (or whatever you call them) of Wikipedia so I say leave it as it is. Stu09:25, 28 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Irish and/or British and/or Ulster and/or Ulster-Scots?
His country is given as 'Ireland / United Kingdom' in the box at the top right of the article, but the text of the article just describes him as 'Irish'. Although his religion is not stated, I expect he was a Belfast Protestant or Dissenter who would probably have seen himself as British (unless his family still retained the rebellious attitude of many Ulster Dissenters in 1798), and possibly also as 'Ulster-Scots' and/or 'an Ulsterman' and/or 'Irish'. Quite likely his country should be something like 'Kingdom of Ireland until the 1801 Act of Union, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland thereafter'. As this kind of issue has presumably frequently arisen before, does anybody know what, if anything, is the official Wikipedia policy on such issues? Tlhslobus (talk) 08:57, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
