Wikipedia talk:WikiProject World music/Phase 2
I think the goals for Phase 2 should be expanded, and will probably add to it over the next few days. If someone else would like to, please do so. Tuf-Kat 05:34, Oct 14, 2004 (UTC)
Irish-Americans
[edit]There is a significant body of music produced by Irish-Americans. There is no mention of Solas in Wikipedia. There is a brief mention of Ileen Ivers and Cherish The Ladies, but only by me. Does anyone else support such a category? If so, is it part of "Music of America" or "Music of Ireland", or out on its own? Or should we have a category such as "International Celtic"?
- Irish American music is part of the Celtic music series. The link is to a section on Ireland in music of immigrant communities in the United States. Add info about Irish-American music there, at least for now. Once the section gets overly long, then create an article on Irish-American music. Tuf-Kat 08:59, Dec 16, 2004 (UTC)
Redo
[edit]Just a note: I'm going to redo these goals. Since no one else seems to be participating, I'm treating these as personal goals for now. By all means, let me know if you want to give some input and we can work together. Tuf-Kat 22:59, Dec 26, 2004 (UTC)
- That's pretty ambitious for one guy, but I went ahead and created The Tannahill Weavers as my own contribution to the effort.--Craig Stuntz 17:16, 11 August 2005 (UTC)
- I just created Frankie Kennedy. --Craig Stuntz 18:04, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
Davey/Davy Graham
[edit]His name is included twice, under different spellings. Ooops Browsing the web I see both spellings are frequent. His best known album uses the spelling "Davy" so I'd go with that. Leo Rowesome/ Leo Roswome is listed twice, the second is an anagram. Willie Clancy/Willy Clancy is listed twice. again both spelling are frequent, but I think Willie is the one most often used on albums. Hey Tuf-Kat you're not totally alone. I'm planning an Arish-American bit. Ogg 08:55, 7 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Great! I once found a really great web source on Irish-American music, but forgot to bookmark it, and now I can't find it anywhere... Oh well, I suppose it will turn up eventually. Tuf-Kat 22:07, Jan 7, 2005 (UTC)
- WRT spelling, by all means, go with the correct spelling if that can be determined. I recommend making liberal use of redirects as well. If you're feeling plucky, I took all the links on this page more or less directly from the respective music of article, so any typos here could be fixed there as well. Tuf-Kat 22:08, Jan 7, 2005 (UTC)
