Sorry, I thought that edit was in the interests of mere accuracy. Zappa was not a jazz musician. He was a rock musician. They are two distinctly different and separate systems, traditions and disciplines, as he acknowledged.

He was a brilliant musician and composer and he employed several jazz musicians at different times in his bands, liked some jazz and arguably composed a (very)few jazz-oriented compositions. As a guitar soloist/instrumentalist he did not improvise jazz, leaving it to others though he was a perfectly fine soloist within rock parameters.
