Talk:Wandering Jew (plant)
My Wandering Jew dies off when the weather gets cold...Does it dislike drafts??? Anyone have any info?

- Yes it dislikes cold drafts. A lot. Otherwise, it can stand temperatures as low as 5 centigrades. Dysmorodrepanis 02:46, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
Several sites list this plant as "Setcreasea pallida", yet that's not showing any results at the three taxonomy sites listed on WikiProject Tree of Life. --KQ 08:51 Aug 22, 2002 (PDT)
- Obsolete name. Dysmorodrepanis 02:46, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
Yo, I think we need some info on the Wandering Jew of folklore here.
That's an ugly, ugly picture I put up. I need to go take another. :-) --KQ
I RECENTLT RECIEVED ONE OF THESE PLANTS, AND A FRIEND TOLD ME IT WAS A "BAD LUCK" PLANT. IS THIS TRUE??
-- It really depends on your climate and whether the plant is being used indoor or outdoor. This plant is know as a noxious weed anywhere in the temperate/subtropical climes, so if planted outside, it may very well become a subject of "bad luck". Of course, that depends on your definition of what exactly "bad luck" is, how pervasive "bad luck" is, and whether or not "bad luck" exists. My personal opinion is that it is a plant, and if it is not creating havoc, it is not "bad luck".... where are you? L-Bit 09:22, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
Wandering Jew (plant)
[edit]What color is the plant.
The plant is purple.
- No, not all species and cultivars are purple. I have one that is bright green with cream stripes. T. fluminensis cv. "Albovittata" I think it is. Dysmorodrepanis 02:49, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
I received some cuttings from my Mom and can't seem to get them to start roots and grow. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've tried planting in a small pot, keeping in a glass of water and planting outside.

Try just planting during the spring, or when it's warm. It likes the sunsets.
- Be careful; relatives ar invasive weeds. Dysmorodrepanis 02:46, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
Is the plant a monocot?
Wandering Jew
[edit]Bold text How many hours of sun light does the wandering Jew need?
-- Wandering dew seems to cope with both lashings, and bugger all sunlight. But neither exposure to sun or dark in excess. Basically it likes the shade (where it grows thick and robust), or semi-sunlit (where it grows spindly and prolific). Main thing is it likes moist conditions, so no matter how much light it gets, make sure it doesn't get too dry.L-Bit 09:22, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
Pretty picture
[edit]This picture was on a page that I made into a redirect. It's pretty and I think it would look nice on this page but I don't know where to put it. Hyenaste (tell) 10:18, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
- Nice indeed, I have added it. Dysmorodrepanis 02:46, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
Split page?
[edit]Support. This page really should deal with cultivation only, or that could even be moved to Tradescantia. But as there is no disambig for Wandering Jew, instead being the mythological figure, I think it is more easy to retain it here. Dysmorodrepanis 02:46, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
