Zerubbabel is Sheshbazzar?
[edit]Moving to talk: "according to the Jewish Encyclopedia, also known by the Persian name of Sheshbazzar". This is the first place where I see this assertion and the J.E. actually says it is "moot". The names look and sound very different. Any other evidence? ←Humus sapiens ну? 04:59, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
Zerubbabel -> Ze/ru/bba/bel -> Je/ru/sa/lem
also, as said, probably She/sh/bba/zar shares the same root. 80.116.119.4 (talk) 21:51, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
Article name
[edit]It seems somewhat odd to me that Zrubavel is the name given in the lead, but that Zerubbabel is the title of the article, with Zrubavel as a redirect. Shouldn't it be the other way around? And if the article is to be called Zrubavel, shouldn't we use that name by default in the (non-quoted) text?

Yes -- and Zerubavel should not automatically redirect to this page because there is a page called Ya'akov Zerubavel. I would fix this but I don't know how. 13:00, 5 December 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.111.161.1 (talk)

Zerubbabel and Sheshbazzar — Scope, etc
[edit]Currently Sheshbazzar redirects to this article (Zerubbabel). Yet there is no section on Sheshbazzar, nor even discussing the assertion that the two are (possibly) the same person. There needs to either be a separate article for Sheshbazzar, or there needs to be added to this article a section which discusses Sheshbazzar. Someone who follows a link to Sheshbazzar expecting something on Sheshbazzar would be rather confused/frustrated to find an article about Zerubbabel with almost no mention of Sheshbazzar. — al-Shimoni (talk) 20:26, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

External Article Page Issues
[edit]How can we resolve these issues and make the needed improvements?:
- In the Book of Haggai, Shealtiel is the father of Zerubbabel.
- In the Gospel of Matthew, Jeconiah is the father of Shealtiel.
This confusion is:
- Preventing the Template:Infobox_officeholder from entering the Shealtiel page
- Preventing Shealtiel from entering List of Jewish leaders in the Land of Israel
- Preventing this footer from certain pages:

Zerubbabel born c 576 BC died ?
[edit]I added... born c 576 BC died ? This would put Zerubbabel around 40-years-old when he began building the 2nd Temple. Every historical figure must have at least the approximation of their birth year and death year. 73.85.201.101 (talk) 14:33, 6 January 2020 (UTC)
- On Wikipedia, all added claims, like saying he was born "c 576", need to be backed up by reliable sources. That's why someone removed your edit. Alephb (talk) 03:21, 18 January 2020 (UTC)
No extra-biblical source?
