First edit
[edit]This is my first WikiPedia edit. I thought MapQuest could use an actual article. Hopefully, this is at least a start. --RealityDistortionField 03:15, 4 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Sponsors?
[edit]I noticed nothing speaking about the fact that Mapquest gives certain directions so you pass by businesses who sponsor their site. Any validity behind this? --Toddd 06:14, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Mapquest.JPG
[edit]Image:Mapquest.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:21, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- The image in questions has been removed, Image:Mapquest.JPG, so I think we can delete the fair use discussion point regarding it. - Dave Slinn, 23:01 April 8, 2009 UTC —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.165.52.112 (talk) 23:03, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
[edit]Anyone know when MapQuest's 360 View launched? It probably deserves an article mention. Mapsax (talk) 23:46, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Introduction makes no sense
[edit]"MapQuest is an American free online web mapping service owned by AOL. The company was founded in 1967"
The introduction doesn't mention a company at all, and it even implies that in 1967 the mapquest online service was launched. Perhaps this section should be rewritten/ 115.64.159.41 (talk) 14:55, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
Tile access
[edit]This should be covered in some way as a proper source is found: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/38315300/mapquest-direct-tile-access-discontinued --Nemo 09:08, 30 July 2016 (UTC)
